About Sally Grafton
I love Colour, beauty & the natural world. I am a potter, painter and teacher. I combine my love of painting with the making of pots to produce bright & beautiful Stoneware ceramics.
I originally worked as a Jewellery designer, making commissions & running a jewellery mail order business that specialised in flowers that had been chased & repoussed. (My BA Hons Art degree specialised Jewellery.) I went on to teach Jewellery in Adult Education. I developed a love of teaching & went on to teach Art professionally in a local secondary school. While teaching I continued to paint and also became fascinated with clay. I went on to study City & Guilds Ceramics. I loved the magic of throwing clay on the wheel and spent many hours working on the subtle changes in shapes and forms that emerge with this process. Now I hand throw joyful pots that I decorate with coloured slips. I want my work to be uplifting to the spirit and to be used every day.
